The Happy Run Review

by yvesyu on Jan.28, 2009, under Race Reviews

happyrun

It’s my first race, well my first legitimate one since my bandit run at Milo 5k last year.

Date January 25, 2009

Venue: Fort – a great place to run, it’s good to my joints too, I expected the first 5 minutes to be somewhat of a torture, since I had only about two hours of sleep the night before(was too excited), but somehow I just got into the rhythm and started running fast. i think the well paved roads are just amazing. Compared to where I run in Legazpi, now I feel like rocky on training, I need to train more on pave asphalt roads.

Organizer – 5 stars! I think they got everything right. Freebies, certificate of finish, water stations, Krispy kreme donuts and banana! wow! it’s just amazing.

Parking – I felt the parking was pretty secure, and it was just near the event.

Personal record : did my 5k- 29mins and 25 sec. I gotta check my previous blog I think I wrote there sub 30 min 5k so I guess I just achieved that, now I think I’ll aim for sub 28 mins on my next 5k, after that I’ll do a 10k.

My next run… hmmm runnew? or botak? we’ll see

1000 kms Goal

by yvesyu on Jan.23, 2009, under Uncategorized

At first it seemed so simple, I was running about 18-20km so I figure, 20kms times 52 weeks, 1000kms shouldn’t be a difficult goal.

Third week of the year is almost over and I’ve just log in 43kms, If I add to that the 5k I will be running this Sunday at Happy Run, it will just make it 48kms.  Looong way to go..

Things I’ve learned …
1.) Runners need rest, especially beginners.
2.) Build a good based before speed training. In layman’s term, develop endurance first, and let your body learn to be an efficient runner, yes it’s that fat burning zone. 70-85%MHR
3.) If road shoulders are not pave, don’t run too close to it, or run on it but be careful.
4.) Dogs will always chase you. Slooow Down
5.) The tension in your shoelaces can make or break your distance.
6.) Carry an MP3 player
7.) Keep your mouth close, certain species of insects taste bad. :)

Year End & New Year Running Goals

by yvesyu on Jan.06, 2009, under Journal

I ended the year with a 10k run to daraga and back with a time of about 1hr and 10mins I think I would have made better time but the holiday season added a few pounds to my tummy area..excess weight to carry, also I did it in a leisure running pace.

I’m glad that since the first sign of knee pain I got from running a month ago, I rested well and has been running pain free since, I have been alternating my runs and not doing it every day for four day straight and a day rest like before,  now I’m just making sure I log in about a minimum 18 kms and max 20 kms a week, and starting this week i’m putting in gym time for some of the days I’m not running, also mountain biking as cross training.

Now my running goals this year..

Learn Pose running method
Know how to do tempo runs
sub 30 mins – 5k
sub 1hr – 10k
join as many 10k as I can in manila
finish the half Marathon Milo come september
finish the MTR
run from legazpi to sto domingo
run from legazpi to tabaco
run from legazpi to cagsawa
run on every major road of legazpi city in one day kaya kaya???

Six Pack Abs…hahahaha (training is way easier than dieting)
