Mayon Trail Run
Mayon Trail Run 2010
“The Toughest 21k Run in the Philippines ”
Mayon Trail Run takes you across three mountains, hottest volcanic trails, exotic places. A definite privilege for every runner.
Mayon Trail Run was organize by the Junior Chamber International Philippines-Legazpi Chapter together with Councilor Cerilo Chan, it was designed to be one of the Premiere Trail Running event in the country.
Since the start of MTR last 2008, each runner that made the finish line earned himself a place in the running community, for finishing a gruesome adventure of a lifetime race. There is no other running event in the country that crosses three mountains, a japanese tunnel, crosses a river, run 70 degree slopes, and climb five storey high lava walls.
Registrants might wonder why limit it to 300, MTR is a very tough race, last year we had over 300 volunteers, 3 ambulances, a standby rescue chopper, we prepared closed to 3000 water for 180 runners. Logistically it is very difficult to add more (though we will think about it).
Registration will start September 15 and end October 15, 2010
So Charge the Hills — Cross the River — Attack the Slopes of Mayon — Have An Adventure of a Lifetime and Be the King of Mayon!!!

I would like to inquire more about the tour package in the mayon trail run, does it includes airfare?

hi. where can we access the application form and the rules to join the mtr? i am from manila. thanks.
Hi, thanks for show of interest, we are in the process of updating this website, a bit delay due to finalization of sponsors. forms will be available August 28, 2009 same date as start of pre-registration in all The North Face Stores nationwide
Hi!
I’m from Cebu, where can we preregister? Only TNF stores in Manila are posted in your website for prereg. thanks!
Hi I will coordinate with TNF regarding cebu. Or you can email me your details and pay through JCI Philippines-Legazpi Account # 0461-04500-1 Allied Bank Legazpi Branch, and I will reserve race kit for you until October 17, so you can claim it at the pacific mall legazpi city before race day.
Hi, Iam interested in joining this race, however, the current advisory of Philvocs re: Mayon alerts, frightens me. Can this still be push through as sched even with the alerts? Any route divertion or it will still be the same? I find the japanesse tunnel, kapit tuko and wawa river very interesting….hope it will still in the route map. Thank you and regards.
Safety of the runners will be a primary concern for the City Government and the Organizers. Mayon Volcano is currently on Alert Level 2, which means if the alert level is raised we will need to divert 4kms of the trail to our new trails in Estanza.
Here is what Alert Levels Mean:
Level 1 – Active, but no imminent eruption
Level 2 – trend could lead to an eruption
Level 3 – Eruption possible within days or weeks
Level 4 – Eruption possible within days
Level 5 – Eruption in progress
http://volcano.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph/vmepd/vmepd/taalAlert.htm
If you would notice, Mayon Volcano is almost constantly in Level 1 since it is an active volcano, and I think the same goes to most active volcanoes in the country. Like Taal.
We are not downplaying the Alert Level, but we are just assuring the runners that should the level be lowered, the trails will not change from last year’s, but should Alert level be raised, we will move only 4-5kms of the trail up to Estanza hills.
In fact should Mayon Erupt, we would encourage everyone to join the run, where else in the world can you do a half marathon with a Volcanic Eruption in the background??? Lignon Hill one of our main running attraction and route for MTR is the site where most international reporters and local news get their amazing footage of Mayon’s Eruption, and Legazpi City is very far from the crater of Mt. Mayon, in fact we get an influx of tourist arrivals during an eruption.
very exciting!let’s go:)

Wow Great ! thank to JCI, Northface , and others sponsors,… in organizing the race… sana matuloy na walang bagyo…
Sir Im just confuse .. why is it Female price is alot smaller to the male price? spending thesame effort, distance and expenses to get there… pwidi ba if ok just lower the price of male … kawawa naman kaming mga babae….not even 50% compare to the prices of the male category ..kawawa naman kami thesame expenses and thesame effort , distance to run ..i wish sana baba kunti ang male at add on for female …
but anyway ,, exciting talaga sir,, thanks for organizing the race…. c u soon guys!dyan ako fucos…
Hi organizers,
In reference to the past two typhoons that might have hit the area, please provide an update if the race event/course is still maped out as scheduled.
Any changes??
thank you!
Rainer
Hi Merl, we are working on coming up with two categories eventually with equal prizes maybe next year, in fact the organizers would have wanted it that way this year, but funding for the prizes is very limited as of the moment, it might seem like a lame excuse, but the organizers for this event is only doing this for the love of running and the city, it is a non profit venture. As you can see from the prizes and the limit on registrants. By raising our prizes in the open category, we are effectively raising the standard of prizes for other running events, which eventually will benefit the running community as a whole.
Next year we hope to attract more sponsors to allow us to equalize the prizes. For now we can only thank you for wanting to join our event. Goodluck…practice on hills.
Hi Rainer,
We are sorry to learn the typhoon has affected much of the other parts of the country, we were lucky this time. The typhoon did not affect any of the trails..so as of the moment, everything from the race/course stays the same and as scheduled, only a delay on the race kit, as these were source from Manila, affected by the typhoon. Thanks
